WOW - walk to school

4th November 2019
Our school is excited to be joining 2,000 others across the UK this year, to run WOW – the year-round walk to school challenge!

WOW encourages our pupils and their families to become healthier and happier on the way to school, to reduce the congestion outside our gate, and improve road safety and the air we all breathe. All you do is walk, scoot or cycle to school, or if you get the bus, hop off early. If you have to drive, then you can lose the hassle of trying to park near school and use that time to park a few minutes' walk away. This lets everyone enjoy some fresh air in the morning and offers a chance to chat and get ready for the day ahead.

Our children will be logging how they get to school each day on the WOW Travel Tracker in class. If they walk, cycle, scoot, hop off or Park and Stride at least three day a week, they’ll earn a badge at the end of the month. There are 11 to collect from now until July 2020 with the great new theme of Inventions that changed the world!

Let's work together to make Riverside School a safer, healthier school.

You can watch the WOW video to see how it works and why parents, children and teachers love being part of this successful scheme run by Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking – www.livingstreets.org.uk/wow
